Dr. Jess Gerber, DAc., LicAc., MS, CD
Doctor of Acupuncture
Licensed Acupuncturist
Masters of Science in Pain Management
Certified Doula
A New Jersey native, Jess has lived in Massachusetts since 1991. She came to acupuncture after a career as a manufacturing engineer, and she has been in practice since 2009. She earned her master’s degree from the New England School of Acupuncture, her Master of Science in Pain Management from Tufts University School of Medicine, and her Doctorate of Acupuncture from Pacific College of Health and Science. She is a published acupuncture researcher, including work on how acupuncture changes the somatosensory cortex in carpal tunnel syndrome (Maeda et al., 2017). For the past three years she has practiced as Happy Wave Acupuncture serving the South Shore.
Jess takes a whole-person, evidence-informed approach. Her style is compassionate and deliberate. She uses acupuncture along with cupping and gua sha, and she shapes each visit around what that person needs that particular day.
Her clinical heart is women’s health, especially fertility, pregnancy, and postpartum care. She is a certified doula with Eden Birth Services, and she brings that birth work into the care of people who are trying to conceive, pregnant, or newly postpartum. She also treats acute and chronic pain, stress, headaches, and the ordinary wear of a busy life. She has practiced in private clinics and in hospital settings, including the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center and the Brigham and Women’s Hospital Pain Medicine Center.
When she is not in clinic or attending a birth, Jess lives on the South Shore, can usually be found in the ocean, and works with the youth at St. Mary of the Nativity in Scituate.
