Emily the Acupuncturist: Let's start at the very beginning....
A very good place to start! My mother first took me to an acupuncturist when I was in the eighth grade for my allergies and period pain. I apparently told my parents after 3 visits that I was going to become an acupuncturist because I found so much relief from my treatments. While both my parents are allopathic healthcare practitioners, they were extremely supportive of me pursing my career in eastern medicine. I feel very lucky to be so supported by my parents, siblings, husband and now my patients in the Boston area as I pursue a career that is so rewarding.

I practiced at a few clinics before opening up Johnston Family Acupuncture, LLC and have really enjoyed my work with my patients in the Boston area.

Education of an Acupuncturist:
While I had proclaimed that I wanted to become an acupuncturist at an early age, my educational path was not as direct. I believe all education is valuable and has made me become a better practitioner.
My educational journey to becoming an Acupuncturist:
Graduated from Hamilton College with a Bachelor of Arts
While on my Fulbright Scholarship to Germany, I took my Pre-Med requirements at Bielefeld University
Graduated from the New England School of Acupuncture at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences with a Masters of Acupuncture
Graduated from Tufts University School of Medicine with a Masters of Pain Research, Education & Policy
Currently completing classes at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine to finish my Doctorate of Acupuncture degree.
Always enjoy learning, so I am definitely not done yet!
